THISTLEDOWN IS HORSEPLAYER'S BEST BET FOR NON-STOP WINTER SIMULCAST ACTION
Thistledown, Ohio's busiest track for bettors, whether racing live or full-card simulcasting, is preparing for a big winter of satellite wagering from premier tracks around the country.
The North Randall oval, which concluded 121 days of live racing on Oct. 25, is open seven days a week -- with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day --- as well as every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evening till midnight.
Highlighting the winter simulcasting schedule is the action from the palm tree circuit of tracks, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita, the Fair Grounds, and Tampa Bay Downs.
Thistledown is the only northern Ohio wagering outlet that will carry the races from the four tracks each and every day they race. "There is no interruption in the action at Thistledown," said Brent Reitz, the track's vice-president and general manager. "That's an important factor for bettors, especially when they are playing carryover wagers. We will have the signals on our television monitors non-stop."
While Thistledown is home to year-round simulcasting from New York (Aqueduct-Belmont-Saratoga) and Maryland (Pimlico-Laurel), the warm weather signals began with the opening of the Fair Grounds on Nov. 14. The New Orleans track races through March 29. Next up will be Tampa Bay Downs on Dec. 13. The west coast Florida track races through May 2.
The jewels of winter racing complete the foursome of tracks with Santa Anita returning with its traditional Dec. 26 opener, followed by Gulfstream Park's opening program on Jan. 3. Both tracks will race through April 19.
There is also plenty of day/night harness action for those who fancy the trotters and pacers, including afternoon signals from The Meadows in Pittsburgh and Freehold in New Jersey.
Since the end of live racing, Thistledown has improved the simulcast presentation for its customers. Several new television and seating areas have been added to the main floor grandstand creating over 600 FREE seating options and over 350 televisions to enjoy your simulcast action. If your looking for a bite to eat then stop by the Thistledown Bistro on Fridays and Saturdays and enjoy a delicious meal while wagering on your favorite simulcast tracks.
