Thistledown Makes Bond Payment; It's Business As Usual On Thursday
On Wednesday, Thistledown topped out its operating bond (from $964,000 to $1 million), as was requested Tuesday by the Ohio State Racing Commission. Live racing will continue uninterrupted Thursday with a 1:20 p.m. post time for the daily double.
Track officials are now preparing for Saturday's renewal of the $50,000 J. William Petro Stakes which has drawn a full field of Ohio champions.
"Although we (MEC) were disappointed in the OSRC decision, in the interest of our customers, employees and horsemen, we took the necessary steps to insure that business will be conducted as usual and that Thistledown will remain open," said Thistledown Vice President and General Manager Brent Reitz.
MEC (Magna Entertainment Corp.) is Thistledown's parent company.
